Troubles with Squid

Hi… so just a short note, there was some trouble yesterday when I updated Squid Row to the new WordPress version. It blanked my site. Luckily I had a backup … but I lost the comments on the latest cartoon. I will be doing some poking around on the site today and I am hoping not to break the site again. So if you see weirdnesses, it’s sorta on purpose.

Sigh…. I keep telling myself, ’tis the season to be jolly!

Back from Up North

planetebdI am now back from places Quebecois. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed the discovery of the land of my peoples. What a trip! There is so much I want to tell you! But it would take weeks to do so!

So here are a few highlights.

Canada loves comics! Even regular book stores have a HUGE comics section. Not a shelf. Not a few shelves. SHELVES and SHELVES! I found Planete BD in Montreal … and they were the nicest group of people… like many of their countrymen. I was just taken aback by their generosity.

The museums in Canada are well funded… and have superb and interactive exhibits. The Museum of Civilization in Quebec City and the Museum of Pop Culture in Trois Rivieres were both jaw-dropping in their exhibits and subject matter. The Musee des Beaux Arts in Quebec City was fantabulous as well… with Pierre Bonnard and les artists de Quebecois.

I found my roots… my grandmother’s family came from France into “New France”… on the boats from La Rochelle. I have roots that go deep in the Quebec area. I found them all over this trip! One such fellow, Pierre Boucher is the father of Trois Rivieres. Another is Bishop Ignace Bourget who helped build Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral in Montreal.

This trip made me want to keep the digging up.

There are so many other amazing things that happened on this trip… but I have a lot of work to catch up on…

OH… and I went back and responded to all the comments I missed. Sorry about the delay!

Where in the world?

harold_wanderlust… I will be in the air shortly… and off to an undiscovered land (at least to me and Harold). You can follow along on Instagram (I’m Brigtoon). Where am I going, you ask? Isn’t it more fun if it’s a mystery?

This photo of Harold was taken on a previous trip… He came out of the x-ray machine toosh first… which made us laugh. Harold hates the x-ray machine… it makes him nervous.

993080_10153431054872409_9162067531934187428_nThis weekend, there’s gonna be a whole lot of ape-ing going on… and TOAST!!! Oh, yes… Betsy Streeter and I will be wreaking havoc at booth 113. You will witness the TOAST… years of toasty goodness (thanks to scary preservatives)… come by, ask for the toast and get a button. You will be amazed and flabbergasted.

Wanna have a cartoonist-y portrait done? Cartoonists will draw monsters, silly stuff and nonsense for money.

I leave you with a sampling of buttons available this weekend… see you there!
