She might even be willing to go out to get it. People get desperate during blizzards and are known to do desperate things.

The skies are clear here, but that makes it a lot colder here in the high desert. We have an owl that sits outside at night saying ‘Who Who’ but it is so cold tonight that he’s saying ‘Why? Why?’

I recently encountered an owl in the Park… he, I believe, was a Spotted Owl… and he was looking to have squirrel for lunch. It was in the early afternoon, which seemed odd to me.

I have experienced the cold whilst living in Barstow… but it’s a dry cold.

The extreme low humidity and thin air makes for some rapid and extreme temperature changes here. The girls got caught out by that last month when they stayed late at a friends house during Hanukkah, falling from near 70 in the late afternoon to freezing a couple of hours after sundown. They were barefoot and dressed for much warmer weather. By the time they ran home, Maellyn’s hands were shaking so much she was unable to use sign language.

It did give me the idea for a new tradition of inviting Indians to Hanukkah, like the Pilgrims were supposed to have done at Thanksgiving.

Also the owls here are huge, almost the size of small eagles, and perfectly able to carry off a cat. They’re a local variety of Great Horned Owl known as Mountain or Brown Mountain Owls.

Ooooh…. I will look the Brown Mountain Owls up. They must be a sight to see!

Ooo… yes, the temperature dropping… Evenings were the only time to do things… I remember being a sloth during the day because of the heat… which I don’t tolerate well. But freezing after the sun goes down would be awful!

The Brown Mountain Owl is a local variation of the Rocky Mountains Great Horned Owl, one of the largest species of the Great Horned Owl. They tend to be even larger and more uniform in color

No matter the charge, it’s worth it.

Though I don’t know the mix-ability of hot chocolate and pizza. You may have to stop one (temporarily) to do the other.

You are so right, Pete… chocolate and pepperoni/sausage don’t play well on the tongue. Ditch the cocoa and make that an “afters” sort of thing… but later… much later.

I miss the rain and cold! In Salinas it is currently dry and will be a low of 48 and a high of 60…SIGH

While it isn’t dry here, by any means… Portland has been experiencing warmer than usual weather. However, I just stepped outside to put the mail out, and it was chilly… seems though, it should be chilly-ER. I don’t envy the Salinas weather at all. Nope.

I remember calling for pizza in a howling blizzard, and the pizza place said there were no deliveries, because it was unsafe for their drivers to go out in that mess.
To be fair, we get some pretty gruesome weather around here at times.

Mark… it makes sense. Insurance claims vs. pizza to the people… I hate paperwork.

    Judy-
Just wait. It is almost 60 here, but they are predicting vile for this weekend. I am seeing this for San Francisco, and here in Reno.. Said system will probably hit near you, too…

I like that, “Vile” … maybe Judy will get some of that rain-weather! This will make her happy!

This is so true… as a renter… she doesn’t need to worry about such things.

Oh no… she’s done the Mochas… I, on the other hand, am more of a purist. No flavored coffees for me!

It’s worth the charge. Totally worth the charge. Heck if you get regular enough and tip well, they might do it for free in time!

True enough… get on with the staff… is there such thing as a “pizza tab?” there ought to be.
